Clarendon Upright Piano Circa 1902 with custom designed night play system!
Asking Price: $1,000
Another testimony for the high quality craftsmanship of the Golden Era. This piano came into our shop in an amazingly well preserved condition with a loud well rounded tone that only a 130 year old sound board could produce. This piano sold in 3 days too our new apprentice in Boston who fell in love with it the second he played the first note. Because he lives in a Boston apartment and wanted to be able to play his baby at 3 in the morning we added a second night play system to the piano to give him an extra quite night time sound that the neighbors won't ever pick up on. Its easy to design yourself, we fitted a strong dowel that will not bend over time and runs the length of the inside to be placed above and between the hammers and strings. Then we glued pieces of felt to the hung between the hammers and the strings in sections that fit the instruments hammer spacing. Because the sides were made out of a very hard mahogany we were able to hold the dowel into place with simple household thumb tacks that held into the hard wood like they were glued. (We needed a rubber hammer just to get them in all the way.) the end result is a soft mellow tone that won't carry, which this boomy gorgeous golden era piano needed on top of having a foot pedal which moves the hammers closer which also reduces the volume of the instrument.

Emerson Square Piano Circa 1860!
This piano is a testimony to the craftsmanship of the old world, almost every note was in tune after 20 years untuned. The amazing part about this is that the original owner kept it in a inside poarch sounded by windows which is the worst place for any piano and will knock a lesser quality tuning block out of tune in a month every other season. We moved and restored this piano in house in two short trips, mostly dealing with quirky little issues you'll find with any square piano which are high maintenance and amazingly beautifully toned instruments. Were amazed and astonished at the deal the owner got it for and told the them if they ever wants to trade for a grand piano we can make it happen in a minute! This was a rare find of a amazingly beautiful sounding diamond, not so in the ruff, cheers!!
Their was low light in the house and we used a old phone to take the pictures, we will have updated pictures asap.

Asking $250.
A beautiful diamond, not so in the ruff. Like the last few uprights we have come across this piano has been perfectly preserved in a church for a century. We initially thought it was from the 70's given its mint playing condition and solid preserved exterior. We were ecstatic to find out it actually is a golden era piano built with the mindset that this piano would be loved and played often for centuries instead of decades like today's modern slapped together assembly line pianos. This is perfect for the novice or pro who wants a reliable spinet around the house which will hardly ever need tuning. Jump on this piano as we do not expect to have her in our Bloomfield location for more than a few weeks!

*Kimball~Whitney Baby Grand Circa 1930's
Asking: $1,000
Tuned in B not in C.
Great for beginners or top notch professionals but simply annoying for any musicians in between.
Kimball was at the fore front of piano sales even before Stienway came into existence He built all his pianos to a very high standard but wanted to offer his quality piano at a lesser price so more than just the elite could enjoy their sound. His solution to this problem was to simply make the same piano and slap a different name on it so its low cost wouldn't effect the cost of the pianos under the Kimball name. Whitney was just one of four diversion names he came up with and just by touching this piano up and going over it from top to bottom we can see why his pianos solid over the top construction were so famous. This piano plays wonderfully and holds pitch fine, but do to some marks on the finish which you can see in the pictures, and a minor crack in the harp that has been cold welded we are selling this piano for practically free after our included moving and tuning. It still holds pitch and plays fine, and will last a hundred years if babied as it should be, but as a honest piano dealer we would never want to sell any piano without giving the buyer the full story and never will. Stop by and play her shes a steal at this price and is perfect for any one who just wants a nice instrument that sounds beautiful and will last a life time!
